Full story

A child can be eager to learn and still sit in class with nothing to write on. A school can have devoted teachers and a library cupboard that is almost empty. These are not poetic problems. They are stationery and books. Families who stretch every rupee for fees and uniforms often treat notebooks as a luxury to be rationed. Students reuse torn pages. Teachers hesitate to assign writing. A library without new books stops being a place of curiosity.

Gyaan's Education Kit is deliberately simple. NiVan Foundation will provide notebooks, pens, pencils, and, where a school partner is ready, books for the school library. We identify students who lack basic supplies and schools whose shelves need replenishing. The kit is not a branding exercise. It is the minimum a learner deserves: something to write with, something to write on, and something worth reading.

Teachers tell us that when stationery arrives, homework completion rises, not because children suddenly become different people, but because the barrier was physical. A library book that can be borrowed and returned teaches a habit that lasts longer than a single exam.

Your donation fills a bag and a shelf. It tells a student that their work is worth paper. It tells a school that the community has not forgotten the quiet infrastructure of learning. That is how Gyaan begins for many children: not with a speech about the future, but with a notebook that still has blank pages.

The need

Students in under-resourced homes and schools often lack notebooks, writing tools, and library books. Children and adolescents are affected when families must choose between food and stationery, and when school libraries cannot refresh stock. Without basic materials, attendance may continue while actual learning thins out. Supplying kits and library books is a necessary, practical intervention so education is not interrupted by the absence of paper, pencils, and readable books.

How your gift helps

Donations purchase notebooks, pens, pencils, and age-appropriate books. Funds cover kit packing, distribution through schools and community partners, and a set of books placed in school libraries rather than only in individual bags. A share pays for identification so supplies reach students who need them, and for simple tracking so we know kits arrived. Remaining funds handle transport. Money becomes materials in a student's bag and on a library shelf.

Expected impact

We aim to distribute 500 student stationery kits and place approximately 300 books across partner school libraries. About 500 students will receive notebooks and writing tools. At least 4 school libraries will receive a book set. Success is measured in kits delivered, books catalogued for borrowing, and teachers confirming that students have materials to write and read. We do not claim board-exam miracles from stationery. We claim that learning has the tools it requires.

I used to write homework in the margins of old notes. When the kit came I had a full notebook. I started completing work again. The library has new books too. I took one home. I did not want to give it back the next day.
